Progress (some thoughts)


Hello everyone, I wanted to share some details of what to expect in the future of this game and some of my thoughts,

I published this early version that includes chapter 1 and 2 as a way to get feedback, to see if people like the player movement, if they like the art style, and what is the general though about the game and what needs to be fixed and perhaps changed in the final version. A big thank you to the people who play my game on youtube and showed my game to their audience.


As for the early version, the gameplay is rather simple, and not much of a big goal either. "oooh gotta collect the keys and gotta escape oooh next chapter".

I am looking into changing that in the next releases, offering a new mechanic and gameplay in each level. And a better objective and goal than "escape".


In the future, there will be more rooms, more monsters with unique AI behaviour.

I had trouble with the controls on the part where I had to run in the red hallway.  Just getting that boost part working.  I probably wouldn't have had trouble if I were playing on controller though.  I haven't progressed past where I stopped in the cave, but I imagine that part is still pretty difficult.

I like the art style and I LOVE Fooli!  I think the pranks where you think there is a monster and it turns out to be something else is great!

I wonder if you brighten up the images showing off the game if that would help get more attention.  The art style is great, but you can't see the character in that image with the bunny on this page.  It reminds me a lot of Bendy and the Ink Machine, but that game was brighter all around.

Other thoughts would be maybe a guiding arrow or something so you always know you are heading towards the end of the level.  Maybe Fooli quests in each level such as eliminate this number of monsters and you get a star next to that levels door. 

If you make any updates to the game I'll be sure to play it again on my channel.  It bugs me when I don't finish a game so Silent Mansion is one of the few games I still haven't deleted out of all the ones I download because I don't want to lose my progress.

Keep making progress on this awesome game.  It has sooooo much potential in my opinion!

Thanks Andrew, I might do something about the too much darkness. And about the controls, I've watched other people and your gameplay and it seems to be a tutorial problem, where people thought they have to press space and Q at once to jump high, but you just have to be mid air and press Q. Thank you again for being passionate about my game.♡♡♡

oh wow maybe that was my issue on the controls! I didn’t think that hallway was meant to be that hard, but I’m not the best on keyboard compared to a controller. I was surprised when I saw this update as I really thought this game would have blown up.

I don’t think you need to change the darkness in the game and only change it in your promo images.

Oh and what about a central hub in between levels being more of a prominent thing? I didn’t realize you had doors where I could continue my progress until I was testing out if it saved my progress. I think it was cool entering the doors to new levels.

What I have learned about feedback lately that I’ve been using in my life is that when someone finds something that needs tweaking then that part does need some work, but the solution they offer isn’t the right one and that’s the part you have to put your own touch on. That has actually helped me a lot.

Just keep Fooli! That’s all I ask. I really love that character. I put a promotion on my video of Silent Mansion so YouTube will show it on their home page. Hope that helps gets more viewers to learn about your game. I hope it gets big!
